About the Artist
I am a contemporary artist based in Camden, Maine. My work explores perception, value, and the hierarchy we assign to materials and objects.
I work primarily with drywall compound, a construction material designed to disappear into walls. I am drawn to its ordinariness. By sculpting it into floral reliefs, I transform something overlooked into something luminous and tactile.
Flowers hold a central role in my practice. To me, nature is the purest expression of creative intelligence, and flowers are among its most intricate forms. Living in Camden deepened my reverence for gardens and the quiet devotion embedded in cultivated landscapes. The floral form allows me to merge that reverence with material contrast.
Each relief is placed within an ornate antique frame. The frame carries historical weight and assumed value, while the material inside it is humble and utilitarian. Their pairing reframes the ordinary as worthy of attention. What is typically revered and what is typically ignored begin to exchange roles.
Through layering, texture, light, and shadow, I construct reliefs that feel remembered rather than rendered. The work sustains a quiet, dreamlike presence within the space.
